Tennis Shoes in a Clothes dryer

12/7/2024

Just a short note to update that I am home from almost 3 weeks in the hospital.  Five radiation treatments, therapy, and enough drugs to stop an army, I feel like tennis shoes bouncing around in a clothes dryer.  My biologic therapy is working, I am told.  I am happy, alive, and looking forward to getting back to QSO Today.

It takes all of my strength to write these few words of thanks.  Thanks for your messages and prayers.  I feel them and know that I am one of the luckiest people alive.

73,  Eric  4Z1UG

Today I finished a week of chemotherapy. I am weak, somewhat confused and what to go to sleep. Friends call but I am sick today to talk. I know they care but I don’t have the strength. Thanks for your update Eric. 73 Jim

As I read this, I just hung up the phone. My only brother-in-law, my late wife's brother called to tell me he has late stage colon cancer and is learning to deal with a colostomy. He has completed two days of chemotherapy, off for the weekend, back on Monday for an indeterminate course of treatment. Eric: Cancer SUCKS! I just hope that both of you receive the best damn care that can be afforded. Good luck. 73

I also wish you all the best and that you get through the difficult times.
I also had 2 years of chemotherapy and was discharged 10 years ago with the words: another 2-5 years.
I have now been alive for 10 years!
My tip: don't let trouble get to you and always try to be happy!
best wishes

Praying for a full recovery, Eric. Don't get too stressed out.
I have a friend who had stage 4 cancer. He had been in treatment
for 2 years. The medical cancer treatment facility had told him
that there was no more they could do; and basically sent him
home to die. Well, he went to the elders in his church to lay hands
on him and pray with him for God's healing, in Jesus name.
Two weeks later, he returned to the cancer center, where they ran
a series of tests to see how much the cancer had grown.
They discovered that his cancer was completely gone, not just in remission. That was 13 years ago. He is still cancer free and active to this day. He is now 82 years young. I just talked with him last Sunday. Never give up; stay strong and trust..
BTW, I'm running the beginning issues of QSO Today on the Gateway 160 Meter Radio Newsletter. Until you are well and able to resume QSO Today .

So many friends, around the world are praying for you. We share your battle and would give back some of what you have given to us all. You build every week a magic mirror where you show the best of the HAM community and we can recognize excellence in human and technical virtues. Looking forward for appreciating new QSOs very soon. Best wishes Eric!

Eric, so glad to hear you are back at home. Shoes bouncing around in a dryer beats the alternative in every case. Your positive spirit is your inner strength and is taking care of you. I hope the rest of your recovery goes as you wish it will. vy 73...Vince
