Episode 386 - Dave Jensen - W7DGJ

Picture
Dave Jensen, W7DGJ, found his way into amateur radio from volunteering to help disabled Korean War veterans, who were active amateurs,  in a Cleveland, Ohio, Veterans Hospital.  From that interaction grew a love of radio and communications that has lasted a lifetime.  Dave likes to work CW on 17 meters and build his own equipment.  W7DGJ is my QSO Today.

Dave....great QRZ info! I miss my DX-60. Wish I had not sold it.

Just a comment....amateur radio is NOT a hobby. I hear "the hobby" often and agree some may consider it their "hobby", but it simply is not a hobby. Amateur radio is one of many wireless services authorized by the FCC. Thank goodness the U.S. Congress is not in the business of creating laws to establish various hobbies for citizens! Look at the main purposes of the amateur service; there is not a single mention of "hobby".

Let's just refer to amateur radio as "amateur radio" or "the amateur radio service" or "the service" or anything but "the hobby".
Looking gorward to QSO Today.
