Hungary was never in the Soviet Union (USSR), and so is not "FSU." Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus are examples of FSU countries. Hungary is not.

Hungary (like Poland, East Germany, Romania and others) was aligned with the USSR and was a member of the Warsaw pact while the Communists were in power. There is a difference between the USSR and the countries that were aligned with it.

Dave - you are right and I will make a correction to this show notes page. Hungary was not a Soviet Union country, but was occupied by Soviet Troops until 1989, and considered behind the "Iron Curtain" until the FSU dissolved. Andy talks of Soviet control of amateur radio in this episode and their "club" influence on amateur operations.
