I had the opportunity for a QSO with Herb during the annual special event to commemorate the Navajo Code Talkers including Herb's Father. It was an enjoyable and memorable QSO. I hope to talk with Herb again as the sunspot cycle is back on the upswing

Hey Ron
We should have coverage to the east coast, it's just the pile ups we have to fight with to get back, I usually request for any QRP or DX stations or change it to Area Call Numbers We also have a station from Houston Texas N7C/5 covering Midwest and out west
We will be on the air August 10 2022 Zulu Time also pends on Thunders storms in our area, lately we have a lot in the afternoon

As a summer visitor to the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation of the OJIBWE Nation, I am always warmed by the patriotism, participation in the armed forces, and the responsibilities they feel they have to our country. I am thankful every day for their values and beliefs. I am thankful for your father and all the other code talkers who also held these values . Miigwech!

Earl AD7EO who lived at Indian Wells, AZ. told me about this pod cast. Thank you for putting Herb on the show. The story was very interesting. I have had the pleasure of talking to and meeting Herb back when I worked for ADOT and serviced the traffic signals in Chinle. I occasionally hear him on the New Mexico Breakfast Club in the early morning at 3939Khz. Herb is a great person and I am honored to call him a friend.

Herb..nice to hear your story. Personally, I am working on a presentation based on Cryptology for a ham club. A portion of the presentation does include the code talkers. One of my resources has been Chester Nez's memoir. Very interesting stuff. Code Talkers are owed a great debt by this country. Dale K8TS

Dale, Thanks for coming by, As of today only two Navajo Code Talkers alive, John Kinsel of Lukachukai and Samuel Sandoval of Crownpoint NM both well over 100 year old, both with difficulties with health. Chester Nez was the first platoon sent out into South Pacific, my father John V Goodluck was in the second platoon sent out, The Cod develop by the Code talkers I find it interesting well created were another Navajo would not be able to decipher and actually happen during the war, You had to attend the Navajo Code School in US Marines Corps, yep they had a big part in the war. Thank you for keeping the history alive in your presentations
