Episode 062 - Larry Makoski - W2LJ

Picture
Larry Makoski, W2LJ, is a QRP CW operator, founder of the “Skeeder Hunt”, an outdoor QRP contest, and a blogger with many stories to tell and observations to make about amateur radio. For many would be hams, the Morse code was the barrier that kept many people from getting their first ham radio license.  Larry Makoski, W2LJ, was one of these people who was challenged by the code, delaying his entry until after high school. . After over 30 years on the air, Larry, operates CW almost exclusively, and on QRP.  Larry joins Eric, 4Z1UG, in this episode of QSO Today.

Excellent interview! I really like how you shared about becoming more humble. I very much respect that and hope that I myself and others too can adopt that trait more often.

Eric, thank you for having another QRP focused interview. I appreciate such interviews as well as the ones that focus on engineering & homebrewing. I learned a lot from W2LJ from listening to this. Thank you both & keep up the great work.

Enjoyable podcast. I wanted to say that I too love QRP operation and really enjoy the challenge. The best idea I heard was the lunchtime QSO from the car! I think this could start a whole new mode of operation in amateur radio - LOTA - lunch on the air!
